Web Summit: Where the Tech World Meets
Web Summit is one of the world’s largest and most influential technology conferences, held annually in Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 2009 in Dublin, it has grown from a local meetup into a global stage for the most exciting names in tech, business, and innovation.
Retrospective
- 2022: The Web Summit in Lisbon gathered over 70,000 attendees from more than 160 countries. Key themes included AI, sustainability, and digital transformation.
- 2023: Again, more than 70,000 people attended, with over 900 investors present. Startups from 150+ countries showed up; AI, the future of work, privacy, and security were big topics.
- 2024: The Lisbon event drew about 71,500 attendees and 3,000 exhibiting companies. AI grew in representation (~16% increase), diversity made strides (women founders, inclusion), and sustainability featured heavily.
Over these years, this global event has evolved from a large gathering of tech enthusiasts to a powerhouse platform that shapes discussions around ethical AI, green tech, inclusion, investment, and policy.
The conference is known for its high-caliber speakers, including CEOs of global tech giants, rising startup leaders, and influential voices in AI, sustainability, digital transformation, and cybersecurity. In addition to its massive scale, Web Summit is a launchpad for emerging technologies, disruptive products, and early-stage startups seeking visibility, funding, or partners.
With dedicated tracks for different sectors — from SaaS and enterprise tech to health, fintech, and climate — Web Summit offers deep insights into how technology shapes every industry’s future. The event also features over 900 investors, making it a top destination for startups ready to scale.
