Client & Project Overview

Our client is a leading U.S. supplier of fencing materials, serving agricultural and property owners across the United States and parts of Canada. The company, managed by our client, has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality products tailored to various fencing needs.

Fence planner interface2 development

Before collaborating with JetRuby, the client’s process for helping customers plan and purchase fencing was manual. Customers would submit forms on the website, and sales managers would create customized fence plans and material estimates, leading to inefficiencies and delays in the process.

In early 2024 the client asked JetRuby to digitize fence buying. They wanted customers to draw fences, see live material counts, and check out online, no salesperson needed. A self-service tool would streamline the journey and boost conversions.

Project Objectives & Challenges

What our client needed:
  • Let your customers sketch fence lines on a live map in minutes.
  • Show an instant bill of materials and cost estimate as they draw.
  • Push the entire list into their web-store cart with one click.
What stood in our way:
  • Marrying map-based drawing with millimeter-accurate length and post spacing math.
  • Threading the new tool into an existing e-commerce stack without slowing checkout.
  • Beating a rival’s early release and hitting a fixed trade-expo deadline just months out.

Our Work

JetRuby focused on delivering a rock-solid, map-based planner fast:

Discovery & Design (4 weeks)

Mapped user flows, locked MVP scope, and produced clickable wireframes.

Zero-Sprint Alignment

Synced APIs with the client’s new backend vendor, set up CI/CD, and added smoke tests.

Fence Designer MVP (8 weeks)

Built a React map canvas, live materials engine, and one-click cart push to client’s store.

Expo-Ready Kiosk (3 weeks)

Packaged the app for offline demo mode with a guided walkthrough for the trade-show booth.

Agile, Fixed-Price Delivery

A stable squad (PM, BA, RoR + React devs, QA, DevOps) shipped usable features every sprint under a tight deadline.
