Overview

The client, Music Production Company – an agile, highly responsive global team of experts dedicated to helping artists achieve creative and commercial success, building their long-term careers, helping artists achieve their vision, and providing a broad network of supportive, creative professionals, approached JetRuby Agency with a request for a music application for their label’s pop star fans to access the music label’s artist, engage with his fan club members, send notifications for upcoming concerts and album releases, and more.

The client had several goals in mind, including showcasing performance photos, album covers, fashion statements, and more through photo galleries to captivate the audience.The client wanted the app to allow fans to listen to musician pieces and sample tracks, including a YouTube player function for music videos or live performances. A customized page had to feature a brief biography of the singer, highlighting various aspects of the artist’s lifestyle, awards, and achievements. Furthermore, the playlist feature must enable listeners to select and play tracks from different albums consecutively, and the app would also have a notification feature to alert users about new music releases, tours, and performances without having to search the internet.

Our work

First things first, our team decided to use React Native for application development. The chosen tech approach proved to be exciting and challenging, but it was definitely worth the effort. As a result, we have created a functional and user-friendly application that met the needs of our client. With its flexibility, ease of use, and ability to run on both iOS and Android platforms, React Native appeared to be an excellent choice for developing a music app that is now enjoyed by music lovers everywhere.

When it came to building the app, the client had a vast collection of templates to choose from and had a chance to pick the template that best matched the idea and customize it. 

Music applications and platforms rely heavily on powerful software engineering to deliver high-quality audio, intuitive user interfaces, and personalized recommendations. Our team used one of the most prominent programming languages – Java.

Due to Java, the music application leveraged advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to analyze user listening habits, preferences, and historical data. By understanding the user’s musical taste, the App was able to provide personalized song recommendations, curated playlists, and tailored discovery experiences, ultimately enhancing user engagement. 

With adaptive bitrates and sophisticated audio encoding techniques, listeners could enjoy their favorite songs without any compromise in sound quality, regardless of their internet connection speed.

Making the registration and login process smooth and engaging was our primary concern. We developed an attractive UI/UX design and integrated social media connections to address this issue. Incorporating popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram was one of the App features that aimed to enhance user interaction and expand the app’s reach. Simplifying social media sharing and providing multiple platform options was crucial.

This feature was supposed to allow users to seamlessly select and play tracks from various albums consecutively. By embracing the best “look and feel” practices from trendsetters like Apple Music and Spotify, we have crafted a mobile application that is essential and practical, and also possesses a unique personality, fostering a special bond between the app and the user.

Implementing Push Notifications

The application offered a feature to notify users about new music releases, tours, and performances without the need for manual internet searches. Leveraging push notifications was an effective way to increase user engagement within the app.

Enabling Download and Offline Access for song samples

Another important capability was the offline mode, which was exclusively available to subscribers. This feature was supposed to serve as an incentive for users to subscribe and thereby contribute to the app’s profitability.

Facilitating Sharing Options

People often share their favorite music tracks with friends and family. This behavior not only promotes the music but also the music app itself. Hence, the addition of a share button was a significant benefit to the app.

Incorporating Lyrics Viewing

We included a convenient lyrics feature that allowed users to access song lyrics without leaving the app or manually searching the web. Our team assumed this feature could be particularly helpful for those learning foreign languages through music.

Supporting Ticket Sales

The label expressed interest in selling concert tickets directly through the app. To accommodate this, we enabled data retrieval from ticketing marketplaces via API and incorporated affiliate links. This initiative proved to be a valuable source of additional revenue.
