About the project
The client, a software company, approached JetRuby Agency for the development of an iOS scanning application. The client had specific requirements, including extensive code documentation, which was not typically provided due to its rapid changes. However, the client strongly requested this information for this project.
The application was expected to have the following features:
- Automatic capture with document recognition through edge detection or machine learning algorithms.
- Checking for acceptable blur levels and straightening the image after capturing the document.
- Automatic cropping using edge detection to recognize document dimensions and remove unwanted elements.
- Implementation of image filters to enhance contrast and make the text more readable, as well as the option to binarize the document for black text on a white background.

Leveraging Swift’s capabilities and iOS frameworks, the team built an app that provided accurate scanning, efficient document management, and an exceptional user experience. Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
The application included OCR functionalities, enabling the transformation of analog text into digital data. This allowed for searchable PDFs with an invisible text layer for reliable copy-pasting of information.
File Encryption
To secure sensitive information, the documents were encrypted on the device before transmission and only unlocked after reaching the designated server, ensuring confidentiality.
Automatic Capture and Image Processing
The application successfully recognized documents, checked for acceptable blur levels, and used edge detection for automatic cropping. Additionally, image filters were implemented for enhanced contrast and text readability.
